This adapter cable connects a removed control unit directly to a tool with a 16-pin OBD2 interface. The 81-pin connector picks up the control unit port, the two clips supply the required 12 volts, and through the OBD2 socket you connect your usual programming or tuning interface to the computer.

This item is an adapter or connecting cable, not a programming device, diagnostic device or scanner. Which functions are actually available depends solely on the connected tool and its software.

What the cable is for

When a control unit is worked on at the bench instead of in the car, the connection to the vehicle electrics is missing. The cable closes exactly that gap: it provides power, ground and the data line at one point. That saves clipping individual wires onto the control unit connector – a common source of errors.
