How long do I receive free software updates?

The Thinktool diagnostic devices usually include 2 years of free software updates in the purchase price; the exact period is stated on each product page. After that, the device remains fully functional with the last installed version – new updates are then available with a 12-month Thinkcar update license.

Do the devices work on vehicles with a Secure Gateway?

Yes, with the right unlock: for vehicles with a Security Gateway, unlocks for the VAG Group (SFD), FCA incl. Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Renault/Dacia are available as add-on licenses – individually or as a Europe package in our Thinkcar update licences category. Which devices are suitable is stated on the product page; if in doubt, we are happy to advise you.

Do the devices offer remote diagnostics?

Selected models do: the Thinktool X5 and Thinktool Master X10S are designed for remote diagnostics, and the Thinktool 195, 391, 393, 394, 399 and Expert 3 in 1 offer video remote diagnostics. A specialist joins via an audio and video connection and assists with diagnostics, coding and programming. A stable internet connection is required.
