Thinkcar update licences

Thinkcar licenses are digital goods – nothing is sent by parcel. Once payment has been received, you get the original THINKCAR activation code (T-Code) by email and redeem it directly on the diagnostic device – no PC or additional software required. For the VAG SFD unlock, a one-time registration in the SFD portal is required beforehand; approval usually takes around two working days.

The licenses are issued for the serial number of your THINKCAR device; SGW and SFD unlocks are permanently tied to it and cannot be transferred to another device. That is why every license product page has a mandatory field for the serial number, which you fill in before purchase – it then appears in your cart and order. The annual software subscriptions (passenger car, HD truck, Reader HD, Tesla) and the SGW/SFD unlocks for FCA, Mercedes-Benz and the VAG Group are valid for 12 months and do not renew automatically. Renault/Dacia work with tokens: a token is tied to one vehicle when redeemed and is then valid for 24 hours. The ADAS software activation is a one-time unlock without a subscription.

Yes. According to THINKCAR distribution, the device can still be used after expiry – it simply no longer receives new vehicle data, functions or bug fixes. Your diagnostic device also remains fully functional without an SGW/SFD unlock; this is only needed for vehicles with an active Security Gateway.

Licenses and unlocks are digital content and are excluded from the right of withdrawal, as the activation code is provided immediately after purchase.
