Description
Description
AUTOOL SDT206 smoke leak detector for precise vehicle leak diagnostics
- ✔ Fast leak detection on intake, EVAP and vacuum systems
- ✔ Integrated air pump for independent workshop use
- ✔ Stable smoke build-up for the precise visual inspection of small leaks
- ✔ Separate air and smoke mode for controlled diagnostic steps
- ✔ Developed for professional workshop and diagnostic environments
The AUTOOL SDT206 smoke leak detector was developed for reliable leak detection on modern vehicle systems. The unit supports workshops and experienced diagnostic technicians in quickly locating leaks in closed systems such as EVAP, intake, vacuum or turbo lines.
Even small leaks can lead to a loss of performance, rough engine running or fault messages. The smoke leak test makes even hard-to-detect leaks visible without replacing components unnecessarily.
Precise smoke diagnostics for modern vehicle systems
The AUTOOL SDT206 produces dense diagnostic smoke which is fed into the respective system under slight pressure. At leaking points the smoke escapes visibly, so the source of the fault can be located quickly.
On modern vehicles with complex vacuum and emission systems in particular, this method enables far more efficient troubleshooting than classic pressure tests.
Separate air and smoke mode
Thanks to the independent operating modes, the system can first be checked with air pressure and then tested with smoke. The integrated pressure gauge supports precise monitoring of the test pressure.
- Air mode: preliminary check for pressure loss
- Smoke mode: visible leak location
- Pressure gauge: controlled pressure monitoring during diagnostics
Typical areas of use for the AUTOOL SDT206
Intake and vacuum systems
Leaking vacuum lines or porous intake hoses are among the most frequent causes of engine problems. The smoke leak detector helps to make faulty connections or damaged lines visible quickly.
EVAP system diagnostics
The EVAP system is used to recirculate fuel vapours. Even the smallest leaks can cause fault codes. The AUTOOL SDT206 is ideal for diagnosing such leaks.
Turbo and charge air systems
Leaking charge air lines or loose clamps frequently lead to pressure loss. Thanks to the visible smoke, even areas that are difficult to access can be checked reliably.
Workshop-grade construction for daily use
The unit has an integrated air pump and requires no external pressure source. The rugged construction is suitable for regular use in workshops, diagnostic centres and professional vehicle inspections.
The stable smoke generation ensures an even distribution in the test system and supports a clean visual inspection even on complex line systems.
Important notes on use
- Use only with suitable test oil such as baby oil or paraffin oil
- Fill in a maximum of 20 ml of test fluid
- Do not operate the unit continuously for longer than 8 minutes
- On split systems, seal off open connections
Technical advantages in vehicle diagnostics
- Precise leak detection even for micro leaks
- Suitable for EVAP, intake, exhaust and vacuum systems
- Integrated air pump for flexible use
- Stable smoke generation within a short time
- Workshop-grade workmanship for long-term use
- Automatic safety shut-off in case of overheating
More efficient troubleshooting without unnecessary parts replacement
With the AUTOOL SDT206, leaks can be made visible directly. This speeds up troubleshooting considerably and avoids the unnecessary replacement of working components.
On modern vehicles with sensitive emission and pressure systems in particular, the smoke leak test supports precise and traceable diagnostics.

Frequently asked questions
What is the benefit of the separate air and smoke mode?
What is the benefit of the separate air and smoke mode?
In air mode the system is first checked for pressure loss. Only once a leak is confirmed does smoke mode follow to pinpoint the exact location. This saves test fluid and makes the diagnosis easier to follow.
What is the pressure gauge for?
What is the pressure gauge for?
It displays the test pressure throughout the entire diagnosis. This shows how quickly the system loses pressure and keeps the pressure within a range that is safe for the component.
Which systems can I test with it?
Which systems can I test with it?
Intake and vacuum systems, EVAP systems as well as turbo and charge air systems. Leaking vacuum lines and porous intake hoses are among the most common causes of rough engine running.
Why smoke instead of a classic pressure test?
Why smoke instead of a classic pressure test?
A pressure test only shows that something is leaking. The smoke additionally shows where. Especially with complex vacuum and emissions systems, this considerably shortens the search.
Do I need an external compressed air supply?
Do I need an external compressed air supply?
No. The air pump is built into the device, so it works independently of the workshop compressed air supply.
