Since November 2014 every newly registered car in the EU must have a tyre pressure monitoring system. TPMS service is therefore part of everyday work in any workshop and tyre shop – with every wheel change. The X431 TPMS 5011 V2 is built exactly for that: compact, quick and usable without training.

Check and read sensors

Hold the tool against the tyre and it activates the fitted sensor. It shows sensor ID, tyre pressure, temperature, battery condition and signal strength. Within seconds you can see whether a sensor is still working or whether its battery is at the end – before the tyre comes off the rim.

Relearning after a change

After fitting new sensors, the IDs have to be stored in the control unit. The tool handles all three usual routes:

• OBD relearn: the sensor IDs are written into the control unit through the diagnostic socket
• Automatic relearn: the vehicle picks up the IDs itself over a driving cycle
• Stationary relearn: relearning at a standstill through the on-board electronics, wheel by wheel

Programming universal sensors

The tool programs LAUNCH LTR-03 universal sensors in four ways: create automatically, create manually, copy the ID from the vehicle via OBD, or read out the ID of an existing sensor and take it over. Up to eight sensors can be written in one go.

Important note: the programming function applies to the LTR-03 sensors from LAUNCH. Sensors from other manufacturers can be read, activated and relearned with the tool, but not programmed.

Plus full OBD2 diagnostics

Besides the TPMS side, the tool brings complete OBD2 diagnostics: read and clear fault codes, live data, freeze frame values, emissions readiness (I/M), oxygen sensor test, EVAP test, vehicle information and resetting the engine warning light. On top of that come 12 reset functions for the most common service jobs.

Important note on vehicle coverage

Which sensors and relearn procedures are available on a specific vehicle always depends on the manufacturer, model, year and fitted sensor type. Give us a call if you have questions – we check before you buy whether your vehicles are supported.

If delivery to the customer was not possible and the shipping company returns the shipped goods to the seller, the customer bears the costs for the unsuccessful shipment. This does not apply if the customer exercises their right of withdrawal by refusing acceptance, if they are not responsible for the circumstance that led to the impossibility of delivery, or if they were temporarily prevented from accepting, unless the seller announced the service to them a reasonable time in advance.
