The OBD2 extension cable adds 2 metres to the distance between the vehicle connector and the diagnostic device. One side carries a 16-pin OBD2 plug for the vehicle connection, the other a 16-pin OBD2 socket for the diagnostic device or its connecting cable.

This item is an adapter or connecting cable, not a diagnostic device or scanner. The actual diagnostic function depends on the diagnostic device used and the scope of its software.

Why an extension makes sense

In many vehicles the diagnostic port sits deep in the footwell or under the dashboard. With the extension you can conveniently place the diagnostic device on the seat, on the workshop trolley or outside the vehicle without pulling on the cable. That protects plug and socket and makes longer diagnostic sessions more comfortable.

Clean signal transfer

Every additional plug connection in the diagnostic path can affect transmission. The extension cable is therefore built with solid contacts and a robust cable structure so that communication between vehicle and diagnostic device stays reliable.
