Why the Scania port needs an adapter

Older Scania commercial vehicles have a round 16-pin diagnostic connector instead of the flat OBD2 socket. It does have 16 contacts as well, but a completely different shape – a standard OBD2 plug does not fit there. The adapter cable creates the physical link between vehicle and diagnostic hardware and ensures a firm, wobble-free fit.
