Description

The Thinkcar CE EVC 101 is a current clamp for diagnosing electric and hybrid vehicles. It measures DC and AC current without contact and without breaking the circuit, and also records DC voltage. The readings are transferred via Bluetooth to the Thinkcar diagnostic tablet, where they are displayed and analysed – practical for independent workshops and commercial users who test EVs in workshop quality.

Important: The EVC 101 is not a standalone measuring instrument and has no display of its own. It is used together with a Thinkcar CE EVD diagnostic tablet; according to the manufacturer’s manual, current and voltage measurement is a function of the CE EVD Pro. Please check compatibility with your tablet before buying – we are happy to advise you.

  • ✔ Non-contact measurement of DC and AC current
  • ✔ DC voltage measurement via red and black test leads
  • ✔ Measuring without breaking the circuit
  • ✔ Bluetooth connection to the Thinkcar CE EVD tablet
  • ✔ Compact and lightweight, ergonomic grip, battery with USB-C charging
  • ✔ Purchase on account available (Klarna or PayPal)

Measuring on high-voltage components

The current clamp is suitable for testing high-voltage components, battery systems and drive motors of electric vehicles as well as for current measurements on control units and circuits. Because the conductor is simply enclosed, the circuit stays closed – there is no need to disconnect cables.

Operation and features

The jaws are opened with the trigger and placed around the wiring harness. A zero button eliminates external interference fields before measuring, and a switchable light helps in poor lighting conditions. Status LEDs show power, Bluetooth connection and battery level. Thanks to current transformer (CT) technology with digital processing and noise reduction, the clamp delivers stable readings even under electromagnetic interference, according to the manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the EVC 101 without a diagnostic tablet?

No. The EVC 101 is an add-on module without its own display and only works together with a Thinkcar CE EVD diagnostic tablet, to which it connects via Bluetooth. According to the manufacturer’s manual, current and voltage measurement is a function of the CE EVD Pro – please check compatibility with your tablet with us by phone before buying.

Do I have to disconnect cables to measure?

No. For current measurement, the clamp is simply placed around the wiring harness and the circuit stays closed. For DC voltage measurement, the red and black test leads are connected to the circuit under test.

What does the EVC 101 measure?

The clamp measures DC and AC current without contact and DC voltage via the test leads – on high-voltage components, battery systems, drive motors, control units and circuits of electric and hybrid vehicles.

How is the current clamp charged and connected?

The EVC 101 has an integrated battery that is charged via the USB-C socket. It connects to the diagnostic tablet via Bluetooth; an LED on the clamp shows the connection status.
