The THINKCAR Thinktool T78 is a compact professional car diagnostic tablet for independent workshops and commercial use. It reads all installed control units – engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body and comfort electronics – shows fault codes in plain text, displays live data as graphs and actuates components via bi-directional actuator tests. Vehicle identification by VIN (AutoSearch) saves time on every job.

The connection to the vehicle is wireless via the included Bluetooth VCI Diag Mini 2: plug it into the OBD2 socket, take the tablet in your hand and move freely around the car, for example for actuator tests in the engine bay.

Vehicle coverage

The Thinktool T78 is designed for 12-volt cars from model year 1996 (OBD2/EOBD) and, according to our supplier, covers more than 90 vehicle brands from Europe, Asia and America, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Opel, Ford, Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, Škoda, Seat, Volvo, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Hyundai and Kia.

Important note on vehicle coverage: These figures describe the overall scope the device can cover across all supported brands – they do not mean that every brand, model and function is automatically fully supported. Which vehicles and functions are available always depends on manufacturer, model, model year and control unit. Ask us before you buy – we are happy to check your vehicles.

Oil service reset, brake pad reset and electric parking brake (EPB), ABS bleeding, steering angle sensor, DPF regeneration, battery matching, throttle relearn, injector coding, AdBlue reset, NOx sensor, EGR adaptation, gearbox and clutch relearn, coolant bleeding, immobiliser, TPMS reset, start-stop, adaptive headlights (AFS), seat, sunroof and window calibration, air suspension, transport mode, turbocharger relearn and more. Availability depends on the vehicle.

Wireless with the Bluetooth VCI

The Bluetooth VCI Diag Mini 2 transmits the data wirelessly to the tablet. CAN FD is supported directly. For vehicles with DoIP (e.g. newer BMW or VW Group models) the manufacturer specifies an additional adapter cable, which is not included. If you work a lot with DoIP vehicles, the wired sister model Thinktool T77 is a good choice – it supports DoIP directly.

Repair information, remote assistance and extensions

The software includes a fault code library, repair hints and tutorial videos, the diagnostic history and reports per VIN. With remote assistance a colleague or the support team can look on from a distance. Optional extensions (not included) such as a USB printer, an oscilloscope module, a videoscope, a battery tester and a TPMS tool can be connected.

2-year update guarantee

The price includes 2 years of free software updates. All functions are unlocked ex works – there are no paid individual modules. After the update period the device remains fully functional with the last installed version.

Delivery

Delivery is made to the delivery address provided by the customer during the ordering process. By way of exception, where PayPal is selected as the payment method, the delivery address stored with PayPal at the time of payment is decisive.

If delivery to the customer was not possible and the transport company returns the goods to the seller, the customer bears the costs of the unsuccessful delivery. This does not apply where the customer exercises their right of withdrawal by refusing acceptance, where they are not responsible for the circumstance that made delivery impossible, or where they were temporarily prevented from accepting the goods – unless the seller had given them reasonable advance notice of the delivery.

Delivery area and delivery time

We deliver to Germany, to the 26 other countries of the European Union and to Switzerland and the United Kingdom. We are currently unable to deliver to other countries.

For deliveries to Switzerland and the United Kingdom, customs duties, import taxes or other charges may be incurred in addition; these are borne by the customer.

The delivery time within Germany is usually 1–3 working days.

Payment methods

You can pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro), PayPal, Klarna (purchase on account or instalments), Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, advance payment by bank transfer or cash on delivery.

Cash on delivery is only available for deliveries within Germany from an order value of €50. An additional fee of €9.99 is charged for it.

Digital licences and activations

Update licences, secure gateway activations and HaynesPro access are digital goods. No shipping costs apply – you will receive the activation code by email once payment has been received, usually within 1–3 working days.

If the licence is tied to a device, enter your device’s serial number directly in the order form when purchasing. That way we can set up the activation for your device without further enquiries.

Please note: for digital licences the right of withdrawal expires as soon as we have begun providing the item and you have expressly agreed to this beforehand. For devices and all other goods, the statutory right of withdrawal applies unchanged.
