The Toyota 17 Pin OBD1 adapter cable connects the manufacturer-specific 17-pin diagnostic port on the vehicle to the standard 16-pin OBD2 socket. Existing OBD2 diagnostic devices, workshop interfaces and handheld scanners can therefore continue to be used without buying a special solution.

This item is an adapter or connecting cable, not a diagnostic device or scanner. The actual diagnostic function depends on the diagnostic device used and the scope of its software.

Please note: 17 pin or 22 pin – count the contacts on the vehicle

Before OBD2, Toyota fitted two different diagnostic ports. This cable fits the 17-pin Toyota diagnostic port only. Vehicles with the 22-pin port need the corresponding 22-pin version, which is available separately in our shop.

Before buying, count the contacts in your vehicle’s diagnostic socket – the two connectors are not interchangeable.

What the adapter is needed for

Before the uniform 16-pin OBD2 connector was introduced, manufacturers fitted their own diagnostic sockets. A modern diagnostic device with an OBD2 connection does not fit there directly. The adapter cable creates the physical link required for the diagnostic hardware to communicate with the vehicle.

During diagnostic work the quality of the data transfer is decisive. Low-quality adapters can cause dropped signals, communication errors or unstable connections.

The adapter cable has solid plug contacts and a robust cable structure to minimise interference during diagnosis. Communication between vehicle and diagnostic device therefore stays reliable even during longer work.

Compatibility

The adapter is intended for vehicles with a manufacturer-specific 17-pin diagnostic port. On the tool side it ends in a standard 16-pin OBD2 socket and is therefore suitable for OBD2 handheld scanners, workshop diagnostic devices and USB and Bluetooth diagnostic interfaces.

Compatibility depends on the vehicle and the diagnostic device. Before buying, please check on the vehicle whether a 17-pin port is actually fitted, and whether the diagnostic device and its software support the vehicle systems you need. Which functions are available depends solely on the diagnostic device and the scope of its software.

Goods are regularly delivered by shipping to the delivery address provided by the customer. The delivery address provided by the customer during the ordering process is decisive for the transaction. Deviating from this, if PayPal is selected as the payment method, the delivery address stored by the customer with PayPal at the time of payment is decisive.

If delivery to the customer was not possible and the shipping company returns the shipped goods to the seller, the customer bears the costs for the unsuccessful shipment. This does not apply if the customer exercises their right of withdrawal by refusing acceptance, if they are not responsible for the circumstance that led to the impossibility of delivery, or if they were temporarily prevented from accepting, unless the seller announced the service to them a reasonable time in advance.
